A pa is a fortified place built by<br />Maori as a refuge from attach during war times. This volcano was<br />originally larger but 2 of its craters have been quarried away.<br />This is another photo that was used without permission on the<br />Manukau Council website (See my previous post). Not only have my photos been taken without my permission, but no recognition have been given back to me, the photograher. This in spite of the website clearly stating that permission is required (Also see warning on this blog below). I have previously granted permission to other sites and/or institutions who have followed the correct procedures. The site on which my photos were used is <a href="http://www.welcome2manukau.com/tourism/howick/">welcome2manukau</a>. I have been in contact with them and they have apologised and said they will remove the photos.<br /><br />Needless to say, this has left me very disappointed and sad to know that this happens more than we care to know.<br /><br />Two of the photos used without permission have also been posted to this blog - the sunrise from Stockade Hill <a href="http://awalkthroughauckland.blogspot.com/2008/09/skywatch-friday-9.html">here</a> and the trench on Stockade Hill <a href="http://awalkthroughauckland.blogspot.com/2008/09/stockade-hill-2.html">here</a>. Below is another photo that has been used - the "Welcome to Howick" sign on Stockade Hill. Trenches were made to accommodate women and<br />children for several weeks. A <a href="http://awalkthroughauckland.blogspot.com/2008/09/stockade-hill-3.html">monument</a> has also been erected on<br />the hill in honour of those who gave their lives in the First World<br />War.
